This highly individual, beautifully appointed home, which benefits from four generous bedrooms, three reception rooms, a gorgeous country-style kitchen/breakfast room and a truly magical garden, is set within the outskirts of Ware. "The Grays is going to be a very challenging house to replace," says the owner. "We were first drawn to its position and charm, and the garden was incredibly pretty. Now, we just love that it's a very manageable garden and full of colour all year round. There are pollinators, perfumed plants, mature shrubs, annuals and bi-annuals.
"Within the house itself, our favourite rooms are very much dependant on the time of year and the sunshine. In the winter, we love sitting in the living room with the log burner alight. It's so comfortable and cosy. However, in the summertime, we just love being out in the garden and on the patio. During the day, the garden catches the sunlight at multiple points, and we've arranged it so there are seating areas at these points. They're the perfect places to sit and relax."
"Our favourite view has to be from the bedrooms where you can look out over the Ash Valley, or from the French doors downstairs where you can gaze out into the garden. It's fantastic, especially in the summer, and everything is very secluded and private."
"There are also many walks you can take into the valley itself or into the nature reserve," continues the owner, "as well as short walks into the town to access the restaurants and cafes. The Grays is situated in a very convenient location. It's the best of both worlds really, and the people nearby are incredibly friendly and kind. We will miss the house considerably, but we will also miss our lovely neighbours and what the surrounding area has to offer."

The house itself offers a stunning and somewhat magical approach, with a short gravel pathway and steps to a front porch and door, all of which are surrounded by an array of mature shrubs, bushes, plants and flowers. The front patio, which can also be accessed from the living room French doors, is completely private and benefits from mature shrubs, hedges and well stocked borders providing colour and interest throughout the year.
The main garden is a particularly fine and whimsical feature, mainly laid to lawn with a paved patio area, which is perfect for relaxing in the sun or entertaining guests, and it can be accessed from the kitchen/breakfast room, dining room and study. The garden is separated from the patio by a white picket fence and opens up into a stunning, well-tended lawn with flower borders cut in on either side. Everywhere you look, there is such an array of colour in the rear garden, and the wall running along one edge leads off towards a gorgeous corner pergola, which is enveloped with climbing plants.
